Each pair of D · MILANO shoes comes from expert hands and is the result of a series of operations, processes and specific techniques combined with skills, competences and passion!
The workers of the Della Pia shoe factory interpret and express the creator's desires, trying to grasp the most subtle aspects of his art at every phase of the production process. After receiving the sketches from the design studio, the operators trace the stylistic and technical lines of the footwear directly on the shoe last, which is covered with adhesive paper, useful for the realization of the prototype. Modeling This manual activity is supported by CAD, a machine that allows to speed up the process. At this stage the operators, using the paper model to draw the guidelines, proceed to the hand cutting of leather parts that will form the model to be realized. Cutting The most delicate and important stage in the manufacture of footwear, since it consists in the building of the upper part in a meticulous and precise way. Binding After the binding, the upper is reinforced by the fabric tip and the reinforcement at the ends of the footwear, through a water-based adhesive, useful to give it last, support and protection. In this phase the operators use a particular machine (tack lasting machine) useful to adapt the upper to the last under which the insole was previously applied. Lasting Springing Through the exclusive use of simple tools, such as plier and hammer, the operators proceed to manually correct any leather imperfections on the last The bottom is roughed down to allow the sole to be glued, with water based adhesive, while the heel is fixed with a screw placed centrally. The last will be finally removed and the heel nailed. Assembling Application of the insole in leather with latex support, internal and external ironing, brushing, are all activities that characterize this phase before quality control and packaging. Finishing The quality control is a completely manual operation which involves a careful observation of the product by the operators. Quality control At this stage the shoes are checked individually before proceeding with packaging.
